ENRICHMENT OF MANURE/COMPOST WITH BIO- CONTROL AGENTS
MANURES OR COMPOSTS:
There
are varieties of Composts and manures. Composts: Kitchen Compost / Town or Municipal Compost /
Vermicompost / Coir Pith Compost / Human
Waste Compost. Manures: Cow dung or
other cattle manure / Farm Yard Manure. It’s
advisable to use only well matured, digested Composts / Manures in the field,
garden or Pots.
PHYSICAL NATURE OF GOOD MANURES/COMPOST:
1. Dark brown in colour.
2. Not having foul smell.
3. Having earthly smell.
4. Completely cooled one.
5. Less in particle size.
TECHNICAL FACTORS OF MANURE/COMPOST:
1. pH – 5.5 to 7.
2. Electrical Conductivity – 1 to 3 dSm-1

3. Moisture
– 50 to 60%, N, P, K - 1.26%, 0.06%,
1.20%.
NOTE: Please note that the immature compost or manure will do harm to the crops. They tend to take the energy around the plants and begin to degrade the remaining undigested particles. So the plants may get starved.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
1. Any one of the matured composts / manures
2. Water
3. Small
tiller
4. Pseudomonas
Fluorescence
5. Trichoderma Vride
6. Jute (Gunny) bags
PREPARATION:
1. The compost / manure to be evenly mixed with water to maintain 50% - 60% moisture.
1. The compost / manure to be evenly mixed with water to maintain 50% - 60% moisture.
2. The
Bio – controls, Pseudomonas
Fluorescence and Trichoderma Viride ( 10gms
each / kg of Compost or Manure ) to be mixed well. After thorough mixing, the
materials to be heaped conically.
3. The heap to be covered with Jute bags & kept idle for two days. On the third day the heap to be given a turning in order to allow air circulation. Once again the heap to be arranged & kept aside for about four more days with jute bag cover.
4. After seven days the treated Compost / Manure can be used for pot mixing / top dressing.
5. Here the Bio – particles mixed with the Compost / Manure get multiplied & they get ready to fight against the Pathogens at the root zone of plants.
6. Please note that the Bio – particles get maximum environmental facilities in the compost / manure with optimum moisture. One may not get expected results if he / she apply the Bio – controls directly to the soil.

BENEFITS:
1. One may use well matured Composts / manures as such on the field or pots to add nutrients to the crops.
2. But The Agricultural Scientists found out the truth that the enrichment of Composts / Manures with Bio-guards like Pseudomonas (Bacteria) and Trichoderma Viride (Fungicide) will help the plants to fight against the plant pathogens (Nematodes and others).
3. Root diseases like root rot and dry root are minimized and the crops grow healthier. Ultimate result will be towards higher yields.
